How to Install Your PET Acoustic Panels

One person. Basic tools. No specialist fixings.

Step by Step

Plan Your Layout

  • Measure the wall width and height and sketch your panel layout
  • Dry-lay the panels on the floor first to check colour and batch matching
  • Plan your pattern — fluted, flat, chevron or mixed — and decide on the seam direction
  • Decide the mount: tape (temporary / smooth walls), adhesive (permanent), magnets (metal walls)

Prep the Surface

  • Clean the wall with a degreasing cleaner or rubbing alcohol and let it dry fully
  • Remove outlet covers, switch plates and wall fixtures
  • The surface should be smooth, dry and dust-free — PET panels are light, but the bond is only as good as the substrate

Cut to Size

  • Use a steel ruler as a straight edge and a sharp utility knife
  • Tilt the blade in by 0.5–1 mm so the cut closes to a tight, invisible bevel
  • Cut from the face side for fluted profiles, from the back for flat panels
  • Test-fit each panel before you commit to the mount

Mount the Panels

  • Tape: apply double-sided tape to the panel back in a grid, peel and press into position
  • Adhesive: run a bead of structural adhesive, press the panel on and support it while it cures
  • Magnets: fix the magnet plates to the wall, snap the panel on — ideal for metal surfaces and removable walls
  • Start from the bottom or from a centre reference line and work outwards, keeping reveals even

Finish & Enjoy

  • Reinstall outlet covers and wall fixtures, and fit trims to exposed edges
  • Clean any dust from the felt surface with a soft brush or vacuum
  • Need more absorption? Fit 25 mm battens behind the panels to create an air gap and lift the NRC class

Acclimatise panels in the room for 24 hours before installing

Dry-lay first: felt colour can vary slightly between production batches

💡

Mounting changes performance — an air gap behind the panel raises the NRC class

💡

Best results between 65°F and 85°F; adhesive needs a warm, dry wall

💡

Do not install on freshly painted walls (wait 30 days), damp surfaces or loose wallpaper

💡

Keep one spare panel for future repairs
